Currency
Valuable unit of Romania is Leul. There are banknotes of: 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200 and 500 lei. Coins of: 1, 2, 5, 10, 50 bani. Foreign currency can be changed at changing offices. Changing money on the street is illegal and it can surely be considered a fraud.
Value of Euro currency in ratio with romanian currency is : 1 € = 3,3 lei.
ATM-s /Credit Cards/Offices for travel cheques are placed in every bank and airport, also in big supermarkets and commercial centres. They are hard to find in rural or far away places. Visa, Master Card, American Express Credit cards are acepted especially in hotels, big restaurants and most of the shops.The situation is different from small cities or the ones far from touristic areas.
